A DRUNKEN woman ended up being arrested at Warrington last night despite strenuous efforts by police to deal with her without taking her into custody.
Officers were called to licensed premises near the town centre following an alleged assault.
No complaint was made so it was decided to take the woman home because of her drunken state.
But on arrival at her home it is alleged she became abusive to officers and started swearing in the street, so was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.
On the way to custody the woman allegedly spat in the face of one of the officers so was further arrested for police assault.
She spent the night in custody.
