Chance to meet former rugby player Danny Sculthorpe and tackle mental health issues

FORMER Super League player Danny Sculthorpe will be helping LiveWire libraries mark Mental Health Awareness Week with a visit to Orford Hub.

Danny, who briefly played alongside brother Paul at Warrington, later retired as a result of injury and illness and this affected his mood and wellbeing.

He has since become involved in the ‘State of Mind’ charity as an ambassador promoting good mental well-being and sharing his experiences of battling against mental illness.

Danny recently documented his journey in the book ‘Highs, Lows and Hypos: The Danny Sculthorpe Story.’

The event will take place at Orford Library on Monday, May 14 from 7.00 – 9.00 p.m. Places need to be booked in advance at any LiveWire library and the cost is £2.50 including refreshments. All proceeds will go to ‘State of Mind’ charity.

Wendy Molyneux, Strategic Libraries Manager, said ‘Although 1 in 8 men will experience a mental health condition, many people find it difficult to talk about. We are delighted Danny has agreed to come along to chat about his personal experience. Please come along and support the brilliant ‘State of Mind’ charity. ’
