Launching Warrington’s very own race – the English Half Marathon

WARRINGTON’S own race of the year – the English Half Marathon – was launched at a networking event attended by businesses, charities and runners.
Race director Rob Griffiths kicked off the evening at The Gateway, outlining his passion for the event – and the main focus which is make the event more local.
He said: “The event will bring over 20,000 people to Warrington over the weekend. So our challenge now is to see how we can give these people the best welcome possible and show how great we are as a town”.
Paul Billingham of Knight Corporate Finance who once again will be supporting the Corporate Finance Run Challenge, said the aim was to get businesses involved in the event.
He said: “The Challenge is a great way to encourage a healthy lifestyle within work, with structured training plans on offer to cater for all abilities. The challenge also offers participants a VIP experience giving them additional perks on the day of the event including an additional medal and complimentary refreshments.”
Louise Blizzard, a winner of the event in 2011 spoke with passion about how much it means to her and brings in runners of all abilities to come together and experience what a great town Warrington is.
Louise is taking part in her 24th London Marathon on Sunday helping raise funds for the arrington Wolves Foundation.
The night was rounded off with speeches from Faisal Rashid, MP for Warrington South and Gary Skentelbery, editor of ‘Warrington Worldwide’ who have both vowed the run the 10k this September.
Both men have already started training and aim to raise lots of money for their chosen charities.
