WALTON Hall was brought to life with the sound of music by 19 talented pupils from Lymm High School.

The pupils wowed the audience with their skills on the violins, cellos and brass instruments and created a winter wonderland of music during the evening.

Head of music, Dominic Starkey proudly watched the students from the string ensemble and Brass Quintet. Renditions of classical pieces included Bach, Vivaldi, and Maurer.

Soloists Hannah Leighton-Jones and Ellen Thomas performed Vivaldi, Allegro from Concerto for two violins which were thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. The wonderful sound echoed around the room.

The talent on show the evening was incredible and the school is very proud of their music department which developed the talent of these young musicians.

Playing the piano was Solomon-Miles Donnelly, who won the Warrington Competition for Young Musicians in 2016. All his renditions were performed with incredible skill and speed and all without sheet music. The audience was astounded by his wonderful talent.

He performed pieces including Bach, Prelude and Fugue in B flat minor Bk.1 and Chopin Berceuse Op.57 before receiving a deserved round of applause.

Lymm High Brass Quintet followed with renditions of Bach and Glen Miller’s Chattanooga Choo Choo for their final piece.

The string ensemble ended the evening with La Bamba in the Italian style, which had the audience foot tapping along.

It was a successful evening and incredible to see the talent that Lymm High School has in its music department.

Another event will take place on November 28, 2018.
