Voting underway for Warrington’s Town Centre BID

VOTING is now underway for businesses to decide on whether Warrington should have a Business Improvement District (BID) for the town centre.

To help any businesses that might be unsure, a series of BID briefing sessions have been taking place.

The briefing sessions are being run by the Warrington BID Business Team headed by Dawn Smyth, Manager of Primark, Warrington, who is pictured with Warrington Borough Councillor Dan Price, who is backing the BID.

Consultations have been taking place with town centre businesses with the final consultation session taking place this Friday (March 9) 12.00 -1.00pm at Golden Square Management Suite

Setting up a BID empowers businesses to undertake activities, projects and services that will make a town centre more economically vibrant, safer, cleaner and greener.

More than 200 city and town centres across the UK have chosen to implement successful BIDs since 2005. Local very successful examples of BID’s that are making an active, visible impact include those in Liverpool, Manchester and Chester.

A Business Improvement District in Warrington town centre is a unique opportunity to realise a step change in how the town centre is managed.

Further information and the proposal can be obtained from the website www.warringtonbid.co.uk

Dawn said: “The vote represents an exciting opportunity to empower businesses and create a more vibrant and diverse shopping experience for all, from independent traders to large scale retail organisations. We should all benefit from increased visitors in the town. I sincerely believe that it will make a huge difference to our town centre through us working together to improve marketing, events, transport, cleansing and security.

“I would encourage all businesses to vote. Do come and discuss the proposals for the BID at the drop in session on Friday if you are in any doubt.”
