AN earthquake tremor which hit Wales was felt in Warrington, today, Saturday.

The earthquake which measured 4.4 magnitude originated 20km north of Swansea at 2.30pm.

But reports of tremors were reported up and down the country, including Warrington.

Warrington-Worldwide Editor Gary Skentelbery said:” I was sat in my Land Rover on the Village Hotel car park when my vehicle started to shake!

“My first thought was it must have been a gust of wind! I then realised there was no wind and suspected an earth tremor! It was quite scary for a few seconds!

“I wasn’t surprised to see national news headlines reporting an earthquake of 4.4 magnitude!”

Earthquakes are not uncommon in the UK with reports on average every two years.

The British Geological Survey say it is the biggest earthquake to hit the UK for more than a decade.
