Plans for Green Belt homes opposed at Lymm

OUTLINE plans for a development of up to 19 houses and bungalows on Green Belt land at Lymm are being strongly opposed by nearby residents and by Lymm Parish Council.
The application by ATM Landmark involves land at Ravenbank House, off Pepper Street, Lymm – a site currently used for the storage of up to 200 caravans.
An existing house and a number of out-buildings would be demolished to make way for the development.
The existing access to the site, near Ravenbank Primary School, would continue to be used.
Lymm Parish Council objects on the grounds the scheme is in the Green Belt and that access is at the top of a very busy, already congested road close to a primary school and would cause an additional accident hazard.
Seven neighbours also object on the grounds the development would worsen traffic problems on Pepper Street, particularly at school time.
They argue that the development is unacceptable in the Green Belt and that is little public transport or facilities or amenities.
There would also be a loss of amenity at the Rosebank Naturegarten
Planning officers accept that housing development in the Green Belt is inappropriate and that the houses would be more prominent in the area than the existing caravans. But they also believe removal of the caravans would have positive aspects.
Overall they believe the development would bring more benefits to the area than damage. They are recommend the scheme be approved.
