Wolves appoint new head of youth

WARRINGTON Wolves have appointed Peter Riding as the club’s new head of youth.

Riding joins the club after spending four years at Castleford and has previously been at Wakefield and Huddersfield.

He said: “It’s a challenge. Warrington is a huge club, there’s no question about that.

“It’s got the potential, in my opinion, to be the biggest club. Having met Steve and Karl, seeing their passion and enthusiasm for youth got me biting a bit.

“It was a tough decision to leave Cas, but the vision of where they want to go with the Warrington club and the importance placed on youth to help the club grow again couldn’t be turned down.

“It’s got me enthused again; I feel like I felt 10 years ago, meeting new people.

“It’s quite comfortable too seeing some familiar faces helps with the transition. I’m excited and I can’t wait to get into it, with the season just round the corner.

“I can already see how big a club this is and how professional it is. I’m looking forward to seeing where we can go with it. “

Chief Executive Karl Fitzpatrick added: “This is a real coup for the club. Peter has a proven track record of spotting and producing quality Super League players.

“The youth programme is critical for the future success of the club and with Peter’s expertise and leadership we are confident he can help us produce more home-grown talent.

“He joins a new-look rugby department that is determined to bring success to The Halliwell Jones Stadium.”
