Secrets of the trees in winter

0

THE fascinating secrets of how to tell trees apart during the winter months will be revealed at Warrington’s Gorse Covert Mounds reserve on Saturday, February 10.
As part of the Carbon Landscape initiative – which focusses on the heritage left behind after the Lancashire coalfields – tree expert David Dutton will be leading a guided walk around the reserve.
He will be sharing the tree’s secrets.
The free event will give an opportunity to enthusiasts to visit the Woodland Trust reserve at Birchwood and satisfy their curiosity about the trees around us.
A spokesperson said: “Even though they might seem bare, this is when we can see the overall shapes of them, the way their branches are structured, the patterns in their bark, the way that each individual tree has defining characteristics of its own that are often more of a challenge to see during the summer months.”
Visitors should wrap up well and email [email protected] for enquiries and booking.
