Restaurant plans withdrawn at 11th hour

PLANS for a new Turkish restaurant were withdrawn – only days before they were to be considered by Warrington’s development management committee.
The proposal involved a change of use of a shop in Winwick Street, at its junction with Haydock Street.
The owner of a nearby takeaway shop had objected, but planning officers had recommended the scheme be approved
The site is at the northern end of the Winwick Street Conservation Area, considered to be an area of possible archaeological importance.
Chairman Cllr Tony McCarthy said: “We have no idea why the plan was withdrawn.”
