Giants go through in National Cup preliminary

LATCHFORD Giants 16s progressed into the first round proper of the National Cup with a 16-8 victory at Cockermouth Titans.
Tries from Charlie Currie, Sam Baker and Tiah Green and two conversions from skipper David Evans saw Latchford home in a hard-fought game against a big Cumbrian side.
It was a game which brought to mind the old saying that defence wins games.
Man of the match was Jack Foulkes, who was a tower of strength in the front row.
