Planners urged to refuse loft conversion scheme

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington are being urged to refuse an application for a loft conversion at a semi-detached house in Stockton Heath.
The proposal involves a house in Burnside Avenue and has worried members of Stockton Heath Parish Council who fear changes to the roof style could impact on the street scene.
Bujt borough council Graham Welborn has pointed out that all 32 houses in Burnside Avenue have been extended in one way or another and, as a result, the road already has an interesting and varied appearance.
Planning officers say that while there have been many alterations to houses in the road, the roof form in the majority of cases remains substantially unchanged
They say a change from a hip-style roof to a gable roof would result in a significant and detrimental impact on the property itself but also on the wider street scene.
Similar extensions in the road have involved detached, rather than semi-detached houses.
