WESTBROOK Old Hall Primary School pupil Star O’Reilly has won first prize in Warrington South MP Faisal Rashid’s 2017 Christmas Card competition.

Faisal recently visited the school to present nine-year-old Star with her prizes during the school’s assembly.

The winning design features a snow family and includes the message ‘Christmas is for everyone it’s a time to show the world you care’.

Star’s design has been professionally printed in full colour and is being used as Faisal’s greetings card for Christmas this year. Star’s name and school feature in the card.

The card is now being sent out across the country including to many residents, charities, businesses, community groups, councillors and MPs.

Faisal invited pupils from primary schools from across Warrington South constituency to take part in the competition, which proved to be very popular.

Faisal Rashid MP said: “This was the first year I have run the Christmas card competition and I was delighted to see so many pupils take part. The standard of entries was very high and it was hard to choose the winner.

“However, Star’s entry stood out – with her warm message to all and creative design. I was delighted to visit Star’s school to present her with first prize and to give her a copy of her design in print. She should be very proud.

“Congratulations also to the five runners up – Emilia Carter, Nathaniel Pickering, Filip Dudzik, Lara Manait and James Fielding whose designs were also very good and feature on the back of my card.

“I would like to thank all of the children and schools who took part in this year’s competition. Thanks also to Taylor Business Park and Cheshire Telecom who sponsored my competition this year and to WH Smith, Sainsbury’s and Toys R Us who donated prizes.”
