Lymm cubs donate to food bank

CUBS from 4th Lymm (18th Warrington East) have delivered a donation to Warrington Food Bank.

Having learnt about food poverty and the Warrington food bank from volunteer David at their weekly pack night, they decided to take action and set up their own collection, generously supported by Sainsbury’s Local in Lymm who donated lots of groceries and also set up a space for the collection in the warm.

Cub leader Ceri said: “It really is incredible how generous the people of Lymm are, and its given the kids a real buzz to see that what they are doing isn’t just making a difference to people in need, its making people in the village smile too.”

Cubs need to work with people or an organisation from the community and carry out a project that helps other people.

This is the first time 4th Lymm cubs have worked with the food bank and many of the cubs are looking forward to taking up the invitation to come and see the warehouse.

Cubs Bryony, William and Olly then helped leader of the pack Bagheera deliver the goods to the sorting warehouse on Monday.  Everyone at 4th Lymm would like to thank the generous people of Lymm for supporting the collection.

“It was a bit of a squash in the car – we had so many bags to deliver” said William, age 9.

“We’ve had such a lot of fun!” said Olly, age 10, “Its really nice to talk to people about the food bank and so many people have given us big bags of food!”.
