Brainwave Santa Dash cancelled

3

DUE to the forecast of heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures this weekend the annual Brainwave Santa Dash scheduled to take place at Birchwood tomorrow (Sunday) has been cancelled.

The event normally attracts more than 200 runners raising money for the Birchwood based charity which raises funds to help support children with brain injuries.

But due to the forecast organisers have made the decision to cancel the event. Brainwave will be in contact with all entrants in due course.

  1. Geoff Settle - former Mayor of Warrington on

That’s a real shame – I hope it’s only temporary and can be rearranged. We staged the parkrun today in the snow shower – so if anyone would like to run during the next couple of events please sign up for the free parkrun and come to Victoria park on a Saturday for the 9am start 🙂

We are also staging an Xmas day event at 9am and a New Year’s day one at 10am – love to see you there I will be at Mayor’s Corner as usually (just did my 61st parkrun as a Marshal) – please wear your Santa costume and may be a mince pie for the Marshals 🙂

Plus if anyone wants to join me as a marshal just email [email protected]

Check out our Facebook site https://www.facebook.com/warringtonparkrun/

  2. Aww such a shame it’s been cancelled as it’s for a very worthy cause and a lot of people were looking forward to it.

It is rather ironic that it has had to be canceled though ‘cos doesn’t father xmas live in Lapland where there is far more snow 😉 Kids may be a bit confused and worried re this Health & Safety stuff regarding Santa and our possible little sprinkling of snow compared to where he lives 😉

EEK what if it snows on xmas eve…will Santa still be allowed to fly over and stop on all our chimney tops to drop all our pressies off across Warrington ? .

Good to hear about the other planned events though Geoff Settle….and fingers crossed they don’t get cancelled too because of a bit off bad weather.

  3. What’s even more ironic is that the weather is better than yesterday s parkrun but was predicted to be much worse! Joanna is a lovely lady with a great charity that she showed me and Jean around. Best of luck – the sponsorship there ready to be signed off just hope that it can be turned around.
