WARRINGTON Town face a local derby against Altrincham in the FA Trophy first round, if they can get past Tamworth on Tuesday night.

Paul Carden’s side picked up a credible 2-2 draw on Saturday away at the National League North side, who come to Cantilever Park to settle the tie for a 7.45pm kick-off.

The prize is a home game against Altrincham, who currently sit top of Warrington’s league, with the two battling out a 0-0 draw back in October. That game would take place on Saturday December 16.

The first round of the FA Trophy is the round of 64 stage, meaning clubs are five wins away from a place in the final at Wembley, which takes place on Sunday May 20.

New signing Billy Paynter could make his Yellows debut on Tuesday night, when the tie with Tamworth will be settled no matter what, with extra time and penalties if needed.

Warrington have already successfully navigated two rounds in the competition so far, and needed penalties to knock out Ashton United in the last round.
