Time running out for Christmas toy appeal

THE deadline is approaching to donate a gift for a child in need in Warrington this Christmas.
The borough council is appealing for donations to be given to deserving children – but the donations are needed by Friday, December 1.
Donations of new toys, gift vouchers, sweets, non-perishable foods, toiletries, books and new nightwear will all be accepted.
All donations should be suitable for children aged up to 16 and can be dropped off at Orford Community Hub on Festival Avenue or Contact Warrington, in Horsemarket Street.
Each gift will be wrapped by the team and distributed ready to be put under the Christmas tree.
All families who will receive a gift have been referred to the service by local health and wellbeing partners across the town.
Cllr Tony Higgins, the council’s lead member for culture, leisure and community, said: “Last year, 250 children received a present thanks to generous donations from the people of the borough.
“In some cases this may have been the only present they received.
“It would be great if people could buy just one extra gift this year and help light up a child’s face on Christmas day.”
