THERE was a huge increase in the number of entries for the second annual school photographic competition organised by Appleton Parish Council compared with the inaugural contest last year.
Every primary school in Appleton was invited to submit entries for the competition, which had a theme of “nature”.
The judges said the standard of entries was very high.
The winners were: First prize of £100: Thomas Emery, of Broomfields Junior School; Second prize of £75: Olivia Dobson, of Broomfields Junior School; Third prize of £50: Aaron Birkbeck, of Cobbs Infants School.
The individual prizes were matched with one for the school, which meant Broomfields Junior School received £175 and Cobbs Infants School received £50.
In addition to this all the entries were awarded a “Highly commended” certificate by the parish council.
