Council chief helps clean up Warrington town centre

VIDEO: WARRINGTON Borough Council’s Chief Executive Steven Broomhead hit the streets to play his part in cleaning up the town centre.

Professor Steven Broomhead donned his hi-vis uniform picked up a broom and joined the council’s town centre wardens for a special clean-up operation.

It is part of Steven’s commitment to ‘get on the shop floor’, spend time with staff and learn more about the work they are doing on a day-to-day basis.

Steven said: “It’s really important to me to see at first hand the excellent work our staff are doing, and how they are going the extra mile to provide high quality services for our residents during these challenging times for local authorities.

“It was great to get out on the streets of Warrington, actively take part in the clean-up and talk to the team about the work they do.

“One key message I got from the wardens is that they can do their jobs so much better with the support of local residents. I saw for myself some instances of members of the public leaving litter and not thinking of the cost and impact on the environment and others. At the same time, I saw residents dispose of their litter correctly, which really helps the team.

“I was delighted to spend some time helping to clean up the streets. We all have a part to play in ensuring Warrington continues to be a clean, attractive place to live and work.”

Steven plans to join other teams across the council in the near future to gain more experience and understanding of the work they do and the challenges they face. He has previously spent time with the waste collection team and has also acted as a “lollipop person”.

  1. Come on, Gary, why not publish one of Broomhead shirtless on a horse, like Putin, while you’re at it? This is pure propaganda – intended to distract us from what’s really going on.

As a professional journalist couldn’t you just ignore this sort of nonsense and focus on the interesting stuff?
