MORE than 23,000 people in Warrington have high blood pressure and don’t know it.
So the borough council’s public health team is advising people to come and try the new Wellpoint health kiosk which will help you monitor your blood pressure.
You can check your own blood pressure and find out your heart age.
The kiosk will be available to use at:
*Until October 21 – Gateway, Sankey Street
*October 23 to December 1 – New Town House
*December 2 to February 2 – Orford Jubilee Hub
Cllr Maureen McLaughlin, lead member for public health, said: “High blood pressure can often go unnoticed as it doesn’t cause symptoms. Having high blood pressure puts you at risk of conditions such as heart disease and stroke. It doesn’t always have to be managed with medication – sometimes a change in diet or simply doing a bit more exercise can help. Don’t delay – get your blood pressure checked today.”
After taking your blood pressure reading, the kiosk may advise you to have your blood pressure checked again in five minutes if the reading is high, and will offer advice whether you need to seek advice from a health professional soon. If the reading is normal, the kiosk will offer advice on lifestyles and suggest you check your blood pressure again at a future date.

  1. I used the machine and it was all inaccurate. It would make you wait for 5 minutes for your blood pressure, weight would be wrong. Also different results each time on the same day I used it. Don’t recommend these just go to the doctors.
