PATIENTS, staff and visitors at Warrington Hospital are set to enjoy the benefits of free wifi thanks to a £200,000 national grant to go wireless.

Warrington & Halton Hospitals has been selected as one of 16 in a national pilot site to launch organisation-wide Wifi.

The Trust has received a £200k grant from NHS Digital to commission and complete the work by the end of December 2017. NHS Wifi will provide a secure, stable, and reliable Wifi capability, consistent across all NHS settings.

It will allow patients and the public to download health apps, browse the internet and access health and care information.

Kimberley Salmon-Jamieson, chief nurse at Warrington and Halton Hospitals said: “The organisation-wide Wifi will improve patient and visitor experiences, allowing them to enjoy using the internet around our sites on their personal devices, which will only add to the comfort and enjoyment of their time here.”

“Work will begin shortly and patients and visitors will be notified when they will be able to log on to our Wifi in coming months.”
