WARRINGTON Police are clamping down on cyclists who ride on the pavements in and around Stockton Heath from today (Saturday) following numerous complaints.
Warrington Police say they have had numerous complaints about Children/teenagers cycling on pavements aggressively around Stockton Heath Village.
One of the main complaints is kids wheelieing down London Road with no consideration for pedestrians or other vehicles on the road.
Due to the volume of complaints the village will be subject of cycle law enforcement over the coming weeks beginning today (Saturday).
Cheshire Police point out that cycling on pavements is an offence under Laws HA 1835 sect 72 & R(S)A sect 129.
Anybody stopped and checked riding on the pavement will be given advice before any tickets will be issued.
Parents, who have received emails via a police alert service, are being advised to warn their children about the imminent enforcement to prevent any tickets being issued and hopefully reduce the number of complaints received.

About time too. Most days, and more worryingly nights, groups of teenage kids all dressed in black with no lights on ride their bikes down the centre of Ellesmere Road (which runs from Chester Road near the swing bridge and Stag bub and down to the other swing bridge at Stockton Heath) doing wheelies and/or playing cat and mouse with other road users.
Do they NOT realise the danger they are causing not only to themselves but to all other road users too? No doubt the car driver would be said to be at fault if one of these idiots was hit. Use your brain kids…you are NOT invincible and it is NOT clever or funny what you do !! Here’s hoping they listen to the police advice and warnings….if not just take their bikes off then and CRUSH them.
