WARRINGTON Town boss Paul Carden said it was important to give the home fans a win and a performance after their 5-1 thumping of Lancaster City.
Just a week earlier, the Yellows had been on the receiving end of the same scoreline at the hands of Stourbridge.
And after Saturday’s win at Rushall, the Yellows are now back up to second place in the Evo-Stik League.
Carden said: “It was good to win by the same scoreline. Saturday was important, but tonight even more so. We said we needed a win and a performance and I thought we got that.
“At times we were far too strong for them. The way we set out, I could tell from the warm up we were going to win, and you can see by the way we scored and how ruthless we were.
“Our running, our closing down and our determination was massive, that to me was why we won so convincingly.
“I don’t think you could say anybody had a bad game, but Jamie McDonald led the line brilliantly, he was non-stop, and his goal was outstanding.”
McDonald, who made his debut for the club on Saturday after signing from City of Liverpool, was one of four first time scorers for the Yellows – along with James Barrigan, Liam Goulding and Caleb Richards.
The other scorer was Sean Williams, who added his seventh of the season with a fine volley from the edge of the box.
New signing Evan Gumbs made his second debut for the club having arrived on a month-loan deal from National League side Tranmere.
