Two taken to hospital after car and lorry crash

TWO people were taken to hospital after a crash involving a car and a heavy lorry near Warrington.
The collision occurred in Newton Road, Winwick, shortly before 3.30pm today.
A man was trapped in the car and Newton Road was closed to traffic while firefighters isolated the car battery and prepared the vehicle for the release of the casualty as soon as the ambulance arrived.
The car door was removed using specialist cutting equipment to enable the man to be carefully removed from the vehicle and handed over to the care of paramedics.
