BIRCHWOOD Park Chief Jonathan Walsh has welcomed Warrington Borough Council’s investment in the business park.

Speaking at a #LoveWarrington breakfast meeting at the park, Jonathan, UK Head of Business Park Portfolio Asset Management Patrizia UK Limited, who are being retained by the council to manage the facility, said:” I am very pleased to be part of the purchase by Warrington borough Council.

“The simple reality is I arrived at Birchwood Park 30 years ago and have committed the whole of my working life since then to the estate.

Born and bred in Warrington, Jonathan, who still lives in the town where he grew up, added during his presentation “Invitation to embrace change”: “I am truly confident that the council will take the park to the next level.

“The purchase is good for the estate and good for the council. They have bought something which is a safe investment and not volatile. It is a showcase of what local authorities are capable of doing.

“The council are adamant the purchase is on an arms length basis and they want the Birchwood Park team to carry on.

“The people of Warrington will see the benefits of this long term investment.”

While recognising some of the concerns of local residents over the council’s Local Plan Preferred Development Option, Jonathan says it is important that Warrington continues to grow.

“Without growth our children and their children will have little opportunity to thrive in this wonderful town. I truly do Love Warrington and I am extremely proud of our town.”

He said the New Town had got the town centre development and road networks very wrong during the developments in the past but by embracing change things would eventually be put right in the future.

Meanwhile the next #LoveWarrington meeting takes place on Wednesday October 18 at St Rocco’s Hospice when guest speaker will be Rob Griffiths, who organises the highly successful English half Marathon in Warrington.

This will be followed by a meeting at the Portal Business Centre on Wedesnday November 15.

Both events are free and start at 8am. If you #LoveWarrington and would like to be involved at future meetings email [email protected]
