WESTBROOK Library will offer one-to-one internet tutorial sessions next month to celebrate Get Online Week.
The free sessions will give people the chance to find out more about how to use the internet via the Learn My Way website.
Topics that will be covered include how to use email, online forums or social media, how to shop or manage your money online, and internet safety.
Get Online Week is an annual event, which encourages the 15.2 million people in the UK who are not using the internet regularly to make better use of it.
This year’s campaign is encouraging people to take the next step to being more confident and independent online, by asking them to use the internet to do just one thing they usually do offline.
It could be their first online shopping experience, socialising online or managing money online, using the internet to improve health or looking at internet safety – anything that they haven’t had the skills or confidence to try before now.
Matthew Entwistle, community librarian at LiveWire, said: “People across Warrington are missing out on the huge benefits the internet can offer.
“These sessions provide the opportunity for people who are not confident online to find out more about how to make their day-to-day life easier by using the internet.”
Get Online Week will see events in community venues across the UK – libraries, village halls, Jobcentres and more – with friendly staff and volunteers helping people to take their next steps online.
The sessions at Westbrook Library will run for one day only, Monday October 2, between 10.30am-12.30pm.
The slots are bookable in person at the library at Westbrook Centre or via phone; 01925 416 561 – but you’ll have to be quick, there’s only eight slots on offer.
