FIRE chiefs are warning people to follow chimney safety advice following fires at two properties in Culcheth and Lymm over the weekend.

Firefighters removed a fire after a large flame went up the chimney and there were concerns there was more debris that could catch fire at a property in Limefield Avenue, Lymm last night.

There was a small amount of combustible material in the flue which was put out using a handheld extinguisher.

On Friday night a chimney fire was tackled by firefighters at a property on Medway Road,Culcheth. The crew put out the fire, removed the stove and swept the flue liner. They then used a thermal imaging camera to check outside on the chimney stack to monitor temperature and make sure there was no fire spread.
