WARRINGTON Lions Club has inducted their first woman President – Chris McDermott from Penketh.

Chris, a long standing member of the club, was officially inducted during a special meeting at the Riverside, Warrington, by outgoing President Tony Gandy, who held the post for the past two years.

The Lions Club was formed in Warrington in 1968 and has served its community with great distinction since that time.

The club currently has 24 members and have service projects throughout the year. Their main event of the year is Christmas when they bring out a spectacular Santa Sleigh onto the streets of Warrington.

Many thousands of pounds are raised all of which goes to needy causes.

The club is always on the look out for new members, both men and women. So if you have a few hours to spare and would like to offer your time and skills to those less fortunate than yourself then the Lions Club is for you.

Please ring Tony on 07880 801629 and arrangements can be made for you to meet the Lions.

They meet on 1st & 3rd Monday at 7pm at Woolston British Legion, 50, Manchester Road, Woolston, Warrington, WA14PU.
