THREE members of Lymm Runners joined 3,000 other  ultra runners  in the  challenging TDS Race through the Grande Radonnee paths crossing through the Mont Blanc, Beaufort, Tarentaise and Aosta valley countryside in France.
The three club members: Tim Martland, Jim Allen and Kieran Walshe, all seasoned ultra runners, completed the mountainous 119km route which included ascents of up to 7,500 metres and sections of the route at 2,500 metres, in very difficult weather conditions, to be awarded the coveted completers gilet.
Jim Allen was the first home in an impressive 28 hours and 2 minutes with his team mates a couple of hours behind him.
They were supported by a small group of their club mates who took the opportunity to sample the French pastries and enjoy the exciting race atmosphere along with thousands of other spectators. They later walked/ran smaller sections of the route once the race was over.
Lymm Runners organise their own ultra race: the Warrington Way; a 40 mile trail through the  countryside around Warrington. It takes place on Saturday November 11.
