Hole in the wall raiders use JCB to steal cash machine

HOLE in the wall raiders used a stolen JCB to steal a cash machine outside the Sainsbury’s store at Culcheth, Warrington, during the early hours of today.

The incident occured at around 2.30am when the JCB machine was driven onto the supermarker car park on Common Lane and then used it to rip the cash machine from the wall.

Officers attended the scene and found that unknown offenders had used a stolen JCB to demolish an exterior wall and remove an ATM machine. The offenders then transferred the machine into an unknown vehicle, or vehicles, before fleeing the scene.

Sergeant Alison Howarth said: “Investigations in relation to this incident are in the very early stages and we are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry, including CCTV and forensics. We are also working to establishing if this incident is linked to incidents that have occurred in the local area.

“We’ve already spoken to a number of witnesses in relation to the incident and as part of the wider investigation. We are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen any suspicious that may inform our investigation at this time.”

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 53 of 13/9/2017. Information can also be passed anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
