Aussie school big band to visit town

A BIG band, consisting of teenagers and staff from the Rockhamptom Grammar School in Australia will be giving a free concert later this month in Warrington.
The Rockhampton Big Band is touring the UK in this month and the concert at the Pyramid on September 22 at 7.30pm will be the first one and highlight of their tour.
Their musical director is Mr John Evenhuis and they will play a jazzy repertoire with pieces like “Send in the Clowns” by Stephen Sondheim and “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars, Jeff Bhasker and others.
The Australians will share this special concert with the North Cheshire Wind Orchestra, a Warrington-based community symphonic wind orchestra with approximately 40 members. The Musical director is Andrew Mallon.
The band play a wide range of music with a focus on music written for the modern wind orchestra in the past 30 years.
Entry is free for what is a unique occasion – Australian teenagers playing together with a local Warrington Orchestra. To be sure of a seat, people are advised to email [email protected]
