Rain did not stop play at cricket club open day

IT was, after all, cricket. So no-one should have been surprised that it rained on Lymm Oughtrington Park Cricket Club’s open day.
But the club wasn’t about to be beaten by the weather and members, players, friends and family turned up at the Oughtrington Lane ground determined to have fun.
There was a bouncy castle for youngsters with excess energy, a barbecue for those with hearty appetites, a bowling machine for those who wanted to test their batting skills and, of course, cricket.
A kids and parents contest was played in a steady drizzle with many – but not all – abandoning traditional whites in favour of waterproofs. The result was close enough for both sides to claim victory!
Highlight of the day was a match between the Lymm Oughtrington Park and Woodford Women’s teams, by which time the rain had passed on.  A keenly contested game was  eventually narrowly won by the visitors.
