Choir back from “unfortgettable” trip to Russia

WARRINGTON-based Cheshire Chord Company, the current UK silver medal ladies barbershop chorus, have just returned from a whirlwind week in St Petersburg, Russia.
They were one of eight groups invited to take part in the very first A Cappella Festival to be held in the multi-cultural city, alongside groups from Russia and the USA.
Along with performing at sold-out concerts in venues such as the Philharmonic Hall and St Petersburg State Capella, members of the chorus also had time to see the sights and sounds of the city, with a sun-soaked evening boat trip and days out to beautiful landmarks such as Peterhof and Catherine Palace.
Choir spokeswoman Rachel Sheldon said: “When we arrived in St Petersburg, we didn’t really know what to expect.
“We were blown away by the culture of the city, and by our audiences, who were anything but reserved. Each concert was rewarded with a phenomenal audience reaction, with cheering, clapping, and standing ovations. It truly was an unforgettable experience.”
