Police officer run over at Westbrook in line of duty

A police officer was run over as he attempted to prevent a car being stolen from a dealership at Westbrook, Warrington, last night (Friday).

The incident happened shortly before 10pm as officers attended a report of intruders at Warrington Audi.

One of the officers attempted to stop the males involved escaping in a car but was run over as he attempted to do so.

A car believed to be involved was recovered nearby as the offenders fled the scene.

The Police helicopter attended and three males were arrested near Burtonwood Services.

The condition of the officer is unknown but colleagues wished him a “speedy recovery” on social media.
