POLICE have made 47 arrests since Creamfields opened its doors for the 2017 festival yesterday (Thursday) – the majority on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
Inspector Mark Gammage said: “Let this be a message to anyone who is yet to arrive at the Creamfields site and thinks that they can bring illegal drugs or offensive weapons in with them – we will take positive action and you will face the consequences of your actions.
“We are doing all we can to prevent drugs from entering the site and rest assured our efforts will continue. We want festival goers to have a great time at Creamfields, but the consequences of taking drugs can be devastating, not just for those taking the drugs, but also for their family and friends – it’s not worth the risk.
Festival goers need to be aware that searches are a condition of entry and drugs dogs will be used at the entrances to the site. There will be surrender bins provided at the entrances for festival goers, and I would urge those who decide to take such things with them to place them in these bins. Anyone who doesn’t, who we then find with drugs or weapons in their possession, will be dealt with robustly.

While congratulating Cheshire Police on making so many arrests – it is a little disturbing the vast majority are for intent to supply Class A drugs!

The residents in the areas near Vicky Park must be extremely disturbed by this news as the planning committee recently gave permission for such ‘events’ to take place directly on their doorsteps!
You can’t really compare the 2 day event planned for Vicky Park with Creamfields Sha. Creamfields is on for twice as long for starters and is HUGE compared to the proposed Vicky Park one which will be a much smaller scale and which will be allowing kids in too (accompanied by parents of course).
As you say Gary it is rather concerning the those arrests at Cream so far are for intent to supply Class A Drugs. I wonder if they were caught going in there, if they had already gone and somehow smuggled their drugs through the strict entrance searches etc OR if they were caught an arrested on the local roads nearby trying to sell their poisons. I suspect that wherever there is a concert/festival there will always be low life drug peddlers looking to make a sale and silly people willing to buy. Maybe these 47 arrests will make people think !!
Saying all that if the same large number of police resources were able to be deployed to the town centre or villages over one weekend I bet they would catch just as many drug sellers.
