Radio Warrington off airwaves for technical upgrade

COMMUNITY radio station Radio Warrington is currently off air on 1332 Am for technical upgrades but is continuing to broadcast online.

The not for profit station based in Warrington Market and run by volunteers, requires around £1,300 to assist with the upgrade but is expecting to be back on medium wave within a few days.

Meanwhile listeners can still tune in online via the website www.radiowarington.co.uk or by downloading the Radio Warrington App.

Station Manager Steve Lewis, who helped launch the station more than 10 years ago, said: “We have unfortunately had to switch the medium wave transmitter off while we await the technical upgrades which means people currently can’t tune in on medium wave.

“But we are broadcasting as normal online and we hope to back on air in the next few days.”

He said the cost of the works would be around £1,300 which had come on top of the usual running costs.

“If anyone out thgere can help with a donation it would certainly help us get back on medium wave.”
