A NEW walking group has been set up to get local people have fun outdoors and help reduce social isolation.
The borough council’s Neighbourhoods in Warrington team are running the group in the hope of encouraging more people to get out and about and keep active.
First meeting of the “South Strollers” will take place on Wednesday August 16 at 9.30am for a 10am start, meeting at Sandy Lane Community Centre, Sandy Lane, Stockton Heath.
The walk will take around 45 minutes to complete. It will be a low intensity walk, going at a leisurely pace through local beauty spots and green spaces. Dogs on leads will welcome to go along to join in the fun.
Refreshments will be provided at both the beginning and the end of the walk.
Future walks will then take place on the third Wednesday of the month with the next one taking place on Wednesday September 20.

  1. Hi Davis – Gosh I recognise the people on that walk – didn’t they walk from the old Wolves Wildserpool ground to Walton Hall for the RFL charity walk? 🙂 The leaders are wearing the t-shirts. I was driving the Blind Mini bus as a support vehicle, Jean was walking Lucy puppy dog 🙂

  2. In fact I took a photo from Warrington Sport ground just like this one – I hope you are going to take part in the one that you are advertising 🙂

  3. Make the most of it. There will be no beauty spots in South Warrington according to the Council’s Local Development Plan proposals. Thousands of houses will effectively concrete all of Appleton, much of Stretton, Walton and Grappenhall.
I would suggest setting up your walking group in Winwick, Burtonwood, Croft, Cucheth or Woolston. Not many houses being built there.

    • Your Lib Dem farce of an ‘action group’, rather than opposing the developments outright, led people to believe that ‘previous permissions’ meant that the best they could hope for was the inclusion of increased infrastructure. Total rubbish!
Stop trying to play silly political point scoring games – nobody takes you seriously!
The public know that ALL of the political party groups are supporting the ‘city’ expansion plans – so you are wasting your time trying to set up a North – South divide in an attempt to prevent the people of Warrington uniting to block these plans.
