Below-strength Latchford crash to 82-6 defeat

A BELOW-strength Latchford Albion found how unforgiving life in the premiership can be when they fell to a heavy defeat at title challengers Thatto Heath.
Ten out of Albion’s squad of 17 were missing from the previous week for various reasons and this meant there were five players on debut.
Unfortunately the unfamiliarity between players proved costly as the hosts raced into a 36-0 lead in the opening 20 minutes.
Albion’s only respite came when stand off Craig Lawton gambled on the last tackle and sold the home side a dummy to cross under the posts and then converted
Thatto registered three more converted tries to leave Latchford facing a massive task trailing 54-6 at half time.
The second half was all about pride and credit to the players who matched the home side for the first 20 minutes, only conceding one further try.
However a combination of injuries and the amount of defending Albion had to do on a very warm day saw the hosts run away with the game in the end and the final score-line was 82-6.
Albion have a free weekend to regroup before they travel to the in form side of the division, Shevington Sharks.
