ADOPTED Warringtonian Sue Musson has been appointed to oversee the delivery of efficient health, wellbeing and social care services in the borough.

Sue , who has extensive experience in high-level NHS roles, has taken up the position of Independent Chair of ‘Well Warrington’, the borough’s Accountable Care Partnership, which aims to bring together resources for health and for social care into one place, forging new partnerships and delivering more efficient, value-for-money services.

Originally from the USA, Sue has lived in Warrington for almost 25 years, building up life-long relationships and networks within the area. Her executive career has encompassed a number of roles focused on economic and business development, within the UK and Europe.

Sue has considerable experience of dealing with change management, strategic planning, research and building sustainable partnerships with agencies such as local authorities and universities.

She was the Chair of Southport and Ormskirk NHS Foundation Trust before joining Lancashire Teaching Hospitals; she has also held NHS Non-Executive Director and Senior Independent Director roles at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and at Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

In addition, Sue has served as a Patient Representative for the National Joint Registry for more than five years, a role that keeps her close to the patient experience.

Cllr Pat Wright, Warrington Borough Council’s executive board member for statutory health and adult social care, said: “I’m delighted Sue is taking up this exciting and challenging role. She has a wealth of experience developed in the NHS over the last decade, which she can now bring to a crucially important task for the benefit of the Warrington community.

“Sue has worked within and near to the Warrington health economy for many years and it is clear that she has a real passion for the delivery of first-class services by our health and wellbeing partners. I’m looking forward to her playing a leading role in the work to build partnerships, work with communities and make a real difference to local people’s lives.”
