FREE one hour car parking will return to Lymm village on July 10.
Local councllior Anna Fradgley said: “I am delighted that we are getting the free parking back, but now we have to start the fight with Warrington Council to prevent them building 500 houses on green belt land in and around Lymm.
“We just don’t have the infrastructure – especially along Rushgreen Road.”
There was uproar when Warrington Council announced it was scrapping the free one hour parking last year, with more than 3,000 people signing a protest petition.
Many shoppers boycotted the car parks impacting on trade in the village.
The new parking charges now include one hour free from 9am to 10pm and then £1 for1-2 hours parking, Monday to Saturday only. There is free parking on Sundays and Bank holidays.
There is a flat fee of £1 to park between 5pm-10pm Monday -Saturday.
