Kinsella “will be like a new signing”

WARRINGTON Town manager Paul Carden says Gerard Kinsella will be like a new signing when he returns to fitness.

Kinsella, 25, was a highly rated player in his youth and has been with the Yellows for the past two seasons.

However he has started just one game in the Carden era, going off injured in the Boxing Day game at Ashton.

A serious back problem, later revealed as two bulging discs, has kept him sidelined since and almost saw the end of his career.

But he is on the comeback trail and has made good progress with the physio, according to Carden.

He said: “We got the all clear last week for him to step up and do a bit more in training.

“He is still a way off but he’s on the right track.

“His enthusiasm is second to none. This wasn’t just a football injury, he went weeks where he couldn’t even got out of bed.

“But he’s responded to the treatment and is raring to go.

“He’ll be like a new signing when he’s back fit.”
