Appeal launched after women robbed in car park


POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two women were threatened and robbed while sitting in a car parked at Sankey Valley Park, Warrington.

The incident happened at approximately 1.15am last Saturday  (July 1) the victims, a local woman, and her friend were sat in a parked car on the Waterways Car Park at Sankey Valley Park when they were approached by an unknown man.

The man approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and asked for a lighter, before threatening the two women and demanding that they handed over all of their money.

Both of the women gave the man all of their loose change, he then fled the scene towards Sankey Valley Park.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5ft 7 inches tall, aged 22 to 30 and of medium build. He was wearing a dark jacket, dark trousers, dark trainers and a black baseball cap.

Detective Constable Alison McLoughlin said: “Investigations into this incident are currently on-going and we are following a number of lines of enquiry.

“As part of the investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and believes that they may have witnessed anything suspicious.”

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 89 of 1/7/2017. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
