Gardens in Culcheth to open for charity

EIGHT gardens will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, July 8-9 when the annual Culcheth Open Gardens event takes place.

The gardens, of varied size and content, will be open both days and on the Saturday there will also be a number of attractions at Culcheth Methodist Church.

Tickets to see the gardens are £5 if purchased in advance and £6 on the day. Children are admitted free.

They are available from the church or Poynton’s florists on Lodge Drive, or from any open garden. They can be used on both days, from 1pm to 5pm.

The gardens to open are 26 and 25 Cawley Avenue, 29, Culcheth Hall Drive,  1 and 2  Chatsworth Avenue,  24, Sutton Avenue,  44, Severn Road and 17, Beechmill.

Tea and home-made cakes will be served at 25 Cawley Avenue and there will be a plant stall at 29, Culcheth Hall Drive.

Attractions at the church include a coffee morning between 10am and 12 noon, singing by the choir at about 10.30am and an art exhibition by Morag Burton.

There will be paintings of birds, animals, buildings, sport, music and flowers. Some are framed and there are some larger works in oil and acrylic.

Proceeds are in aid of St Rocco’s Hospice and the church.
