A NEW president has been elected at Warrington Rotary Club.
Val Gannon, aged 70, a former teacher, has played a leading role within the Warrington club for a number of years.
Her first contact with Warrington was as a student in 1965 at the former Padgate Teacher Training College.
She has been a co-ordinator of a number of youth projects and in addition has made it her priority to collect hundreds of used spectacles for a recycling project for their use in Africa.
She said: “Warrington Rotary Club plays an important part in supporting local community activities with funding or by our members’ involvement plus a number of international projects. As president of the club I will support the club in this continuing programme and I intend to extend it wherever possible.”
