Traffic hold-ups on motorway after car fire

A CAR fire led to two lanes of the M6 being closed near Warrington this morning.
The blaze, between Junction 20 at Lymm and Junction 19 at Knutsford, forced the closure of two southbound lanes while emergency services dealt with the incident.
Severe tail backs were reported and Highways England said congestion was building rapidly.
The lanes were re-opened by around 11.30am, but traffic was still being held up as far back as Junction 21 at Woolston.
Motorists were advised to try and avoid the area, although it was expected the congestion would ease shortly.
