PHILIP Caveney – the acclaimed British author of the Sebastian Darke, Alec Devlin, and Movie Maniacs novels – will pay a visit to Lymm Library next month.
Children will have the chance to have a glimpse into the amazing world of Sebastian Darke as they meet and listen to the author at the Davies Way library on Saturday  July 1 at 11.30am.
Philip has been writing for children for 10 years, following a 30 year career publishing adult thrillers.
His first children’s book Sebastian Darke: Prince of Fools became a series that was published in 20 countries around the world.
In 2012, his novel Night on Terror Island won the Brilliant Books Award and in 2016, his chilling ghost story The Piper (written as Danny Weston) won the Scottish Children’s Book Award.
His latest release, The Haunting of Jessop Rise has been shortlisted for three awards including the prestigious Tir Nan N-Og award for a story set in Wales. A new Danny Weston novel, Scarecow, is set for release this October.
Philip has co-ordinated the Manchester Writers’ Workshop for more than 25 years, and has considerable experience running events for children, which are fun but also have serious intent to fill children with the love of literature.
This event is aimed at children aged 8-12 years and is part of a series of events across the village to celebrate this year’s Lymm Festival.
The festival runs from  June 22 until  July 2 and encompasses almost 50 events across 11 days.
Tickets for the author event are priced at £3 and can be purchased at the Box Office (in the Annexe at Lymm Village Hotel) or online at www.lymmfestival.org.uk. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
