EMERGENCY repairs on the M6 Thelwall Viaduct are causing delays for motorists travelling on the southbound carriageway.

Two  lanes of the M6 southbound have been closed between junctions 21-20 for Woolston and Lymm which have been causing delays of up to 40 minutes for motorists.

Queuing traffic is tailing back back past to junction 22 for Newton le Willows, following the closures of lanes three and four for emergency repairs on Thelwall Viaduct.

The work is expected to be completed later this evening.
