Newchurch Rose Queen Crowned

0

CULCHETH Primary School pupil Elisabeth Fuller was crowned as the new Newchurch Rose Queen on Sunday at a special service  performed by Reverend Chris Jones.

The crown was presented to 11-year-old Elizabeth by Ken and Audrey Phillips.

Elisabeth takes over the role from last year’s retiring Queen Sophie De Jong.  She will be helped in her role by her attendants, Natalia Fuller, Ella Ross, Lily Ross and Sam Blinkhorn.

Elisabeth, is the latest in a long succession of Newchurch Royalty.

The first date the church can can go back to is 1926 when Elsie Barrow or Barron was the Newchurch Rose Queen.

For the Millennium, when Victoria Nicholson was Queen, the church organised a gathering of queens and several gaps in the line of succession were filled in.
