LATCHFORD based accountant Jenny Jackson is celebrating after being crowned Miss Cheshire – and now aims to be a role model.

Jenny, aged 21, won the title at the Park Royal Hotel in Stretton and now has a place in the Miss England finals later this year.

She has been busy fund-raising for the Variety children’s charity as part of the event and said: “Taking part in the Miss Cheshire competition has not only provided me with some amazing friends, but exposure to the different ways of fundraising for charity and it’s really opened my eyes to how enjoyable it can be. I’ve had tonnes of fun whilst raising money for a really worthy cause.

“I’m completely ecstatic to have won and I can honestly say I wasn’t expecting it. The final was full of energy and we all had a great time, but to be crowned the winner is just the icing on the cake.

“In terms of what’s next- I guess it’s more of what got me this crown. I’m hoping to get involved in the community in many different ways and be even more creative with my fundraising. I’m going to get my face out there and raise awareness of everything I’m doing and getting my new found sister Junior Miss Cheshire involved too.”

Junior winner was Abbie Potter, aged 16 and also from Warrington.

On her road to success Jenny has organised cake sales, a ‘how many sweets are in the tub’ challenge and a ‘no makeup selfie’, which she posted to her Facebook page.

She has also started a website called ‘admire and inspire’ and kicked off a #true2u campaign- to encourage girls, boys, men and women to be true to who they are and comfortable in their own skin.

The Miss Cheshire competition is an opportunity for girls between the ages of 13-26 to take part in an event that will change their lives forever.

“It’s amazing to be part of something so unique and meaningful both to us as candidates and the children at Variety, whom we are helping. I’d highly recommend the experience to anyone.

“Moving forward I am to help charities around animal cruelty and mental health, to raise awareness of mental health and the help that’s out there.

“More broadly I want to empower girls and make them feel confident in their own skin and deliver the message that social media and celebrities aren’t what we ‘should’ be or look like. To stay true to their character and not to conform to society norms just to please other people.

“I aim to encourage girls to be ambitious and strive for their goals and believe in themselves and encourage them to apply for powerful positions even if they are stereo typically male dominated!”
