Sisters climb a mountain for children’s charity

TWO Culcheth sisters who climbed Mount Snowdon with their Mum and Dad have raised £1,000 for charity – and money is still coming in.
Daisy and Faye Pryce, aged six and five, decided early this year to do the climb to raise money for the Flying Seagull Project, a charity that provides fun and laughter to children in need.
The girls both attend Newchurch Primary School.
Their Dad, Craig takes up the story.
He said: “We had a very tough day with the weather, waking in the morning to thick grey cloud and heavy downpours of rain.
“Even though myself and my wife had doubts the girls were totally up for it and not once did they say they didn’t want to do it!!
“We set off from Pen-y-pass at around 8.30am and went along the Miners Track with some friends who came to support us. We all had good spirits and the girls were off running ahead asking which mountain we were going to climb…not phased by the size at all.
“As we continued it became steadily steeper and steeper, at some points literally climbing and scrabbling on all fours.
“We did at one point consider turning back as the rain and wind became stronger and it became colder….we discussed how it was never going to be easy and that is why we had raised so much money. Sometimes life can be hard, just as it is for the children the Flying Seagull help. This was a great lesson for the girls.  They decided to be strong and brave and we continued onwards!
“Towards the top we split into two small groups as the trail became very narrow with big drops off the edge. We were totally immersed in the clouds and couldn’t see very much. We took our time slowly but surely we made our way onto the top ridge and along to the summit, arriving at about 12.00.
“The girls were so brave and at points we had a few tears and ‘I cant go any more’ but so many friendly people spurred them on and congratulated the girls for their great effort, it kept us going. We raised a further £54 along the way.
“The girls are so happy that they have done this. We are set to top over £1000 with more money coming in from various sources over the next week.
